Volunteer and make a difference!

The YMCA of Alaska offers many opportunities to volunteer. People can have fun, give back, and make a difference in their community.

You can choose to volunteer at special events or to work with members and participants on a regular basis. With a focus on youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility, Y volunteers give men, women, and children of all ages and from all walks of life the resources and support they need to be healthy, confident, connected, and secure.

We have a wide variety of volunteer opportunities to match your passion, skills and schedule.

What volunteer opportunities are available?

We like to match potential volunteers to a meaningful experience. If there is an activity you are interested in, we will work with you to find an opportunity that matches your interest and meets the needs of the Y. The YMCA of Alaska has created a wide variety of volunteer opportunities including:

Program Volunteers: Read to children in our child watch, greet members at the membership services desk, coach one of our youth sports teams and more.

Special Event Volunteers: In small groups or as individuals these volunteers perform tasks during a special event such as Fall Festival, Healthy Kids Day, or Movie in the pool.
